POST 383 BASEBALL HAS MOVED - Fair Oaks Post 383 Baseball has moved to its own domain at www.post383baseball.com. We originally wanted OaksBaseball.com, but that is taken by the Visalia Oaks of the California League. We'll try to get everything working as fast as we can, but in the meantime if you click on something and it doesn't work, please let us know by email. Click HERE to email us. ONE BAD INNING SINKS OAKS - Fair Oaks was eliminated from the Area 1 tournament Sunday afternoon after the Oaks lost to B&L Properties by a score of 7-4. The Oaks took a 3-0 lead, scoring once in the first inning and twice in the second, but B&L strung together five hits, a walk, and a hit batter to take a 4-3 lead in the third, eventually going up 6-3 in that inning. B&L added another run in the sixth, with Fair Oaks rallying in the ninth - but falling short with only one run - for the 7-4 final score. B&L's win put them in the 2 p.m. game against Petaluma for the championship. Go HERE for the game write-ups for all the Post 383 contests this season.

GIBSON ON BASE - During the just-completed Area 1 Tournament in Fairfield, Oaks catcher Bret Gibson reached base an amazing 18 consecutive times via either base hit or walk. Gibson finished the tournament 12-for-16 with seven walks.

OAKS ADVANCE TO CHAMPIONSHIP GAME - Post 383 beat El Dorado Saturday by a score of 6-2 to advance to Sunday's Area 1 semi-final championship game at Laurel Creek Park in Fairfield. The Oaks will play B&L Properties, a 5-4 winner over Petaluma Saturday night.

    If the Oaks win over B&L they will play Petaluma for the championship at 2 p.m.  A loss will eliminate them from the tournament.

OAKS CONTINUE TO WIN - Fair Oaks stayed alive in the Area 1 Tournament in Fairfield Friday with a 7-1 victory over Oroville. This puts Post 383 in the 4 p.m. game on Saturday against the loser of tonight's El Dorado vs. Petaluma game.

POST 383 OUTLASTS NUTS 12-10 - The Oaks won a seesaw battle against the Chico Nuts Thursday to stay alive in the Area 1 Tournament. A grand slam home run by Josh Glaser and a solo shot by Ben Schwefel lifted the Oaks to the 12-10 victory. Fair Oaks will now face the loser of the Oroville vs. Petaluma game at 1 p.m. on Friday.

OAKS BLOW LEAD, LOSE 6-4 - Fair Oaks led 3-0 going into the bottom of the sixth inning Wednesday night at Laurel Creek Park, but five runs by B&L Properties gave the Fairfield team all they would need to down Fair Oaks in the opening round of the Area 1 Playoffs. B&L matched a single run by Fair Oaks in the eighth to eventually win 6-4, sending the Oaks into Thursday's Loser's Bracket game at 1 p.m. vs. Chico.

AREA 1 TOURNAMENT INFO - Fair Oaks will open play on Wednesday, July 23, against B&L Properties at 7 p.m. For a complete playoff bracket in Word format, click HERE. We have received word that there will be no admission charged for the games, but you are encouraged to use the snack bar at Laurel Creek Park -- one of the finest around for Legion baseball.

OAKS' POWELL FANSLER OUT FOR SEASON - Oaks pitcher Powell Fansler had knee surgery July 15 to take care of his right knee meniscus that had folded over on itself. All went well, but he will be out of basketball and baseball for the next 5 months. His doctor thinks he will be able to start throwing in 3-4 months so he will be in good form come the regular season. For the next six weeks though, he has to have no weight on his right knee and he is home bound for the near future. He really regrets not being able to participate in the playoffs or help support the team. - Ward Fansler

OAKS TAKE DISTRICT 6 CHAMPIONSHIP - Fair Oaks beat Yolo by a score of 1-0 to claim the 2008 District 6 Championship. This means Fair Oaks will advance to the Area 1 Playoffs which begin July 23 at Laurel Creek Park in Fairfield.
